Further information

Our chicken wire mesh is a versatile galvanised steel fencing mesh suitable for a wide range of garden, horticultural, agricultural, and construction applications. Supplied in convenient rolls, the mesh can be easily unrolled, cut to size, and shaped to suit your project.

Manufactured from steel wire and hot-dipped galvanised with a zinc coating, this chicken wire is designed to resist rust and corrosion, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use. The distinctive hexagonal aperture (often referred to as hexagonal wire mesh) provides flexibility while maintaining strength and stability.

Please note: the wire is galvanised before twisting. Any cut ends may be susceptible to surface rust where bare steel is exposed.

Typical Applications

Chicken wire mesh is commonly used for:

  • Chicken coops and chicken runs
  • Poultry fencing and small animal enclosures
  • Rabbit runs
  • Garden fencing and temporary boundaries
  • Deer control fence mesh (low-pressure applications)
  • Tree guards and protection from browsing animals
  • Fruit cages and plant protection
  • Anti-slip mesh for decking and steps
  • Plastering and render support
  • Insulation support between joists

Installation Notes

Chicken wire mesh can be fixed to timber or metal posts using staples, U-nails, cable ties, or fencing clips.

For best results in animal enclosures, ensure the mesh is well tensioned and securely fixed at regular intervals.
