Which pavers are permeable?

All of Suregreen’s interlocking pavers are fully permeable, with uniquely designed open cell structures to allow the vertical and horizontal passage of water, giving excellent drainage for gravel finish and nutrients in the case of a grass  finish.

What are gravel grids used for?

Permeable pavers have different uses depending on their type.  For example, GT40 has been tested to 810T/m², making these gravel grids ideal for overflow car parks, domestic driveways and pedestrian walkways.

What gravel is best for gravel grids?

Gravel grids should be used with an angular interlocking gravel such as our golden flint gravel, red granite chippings, white chippings or cream Cotswold chippings.

How do you secure gravel grids?

All good gravel grids have been designed to allow the appropriate gravel to do the securing.  The gravel needs to be able to shear, surround and lock with the grid giving a hardwearing secure surface. Check our our GT40 installtion guide for more information. 

Are gravel grids worth it?

Yes.  Gravel grids are a good, long-term investment for both commercial and residential applications.   Installed correctly and using the appropriate grid will realise a strong secure and durable surface that does not create any additional water runoff, saving on drainage costs but also meeting the latest planning guidelines.  Installing gravel grids is also likely to increase the value and visitor pleasure of property as it is much more attractive to the eye than concrete or tarmac.

How long do permeable pavers last?

Installing a good permeable paver correctly that will match expected demands should give a work life of at least 25 years.

When should you use permeable pavers?

Permeable pavers can be used anytime to solve a trafficking solution as the grids will not add to rainwater runoff or create the flood risk that concrete or tarmac might.  They are used when a permeable ground stabilisation solution is required for applications including driveways, car parks, overflow parking, car parking bays, cycle paths, footpaths, and wheelchair access paths.  In addition to this, when planning is likely to be a problem regarding drainage and ‘in keeping with surroundings’, selecting permeable pavers is usually a workable solution with the local authorities.
