Further information
Weeds are one of the biggest threats to newly planted trees, competing for water, light and nutrients while the roots are still establishing. Ecomatt Bio Weed Control Mulch Mats give each plant a clear, weed-free zone without herbicides, and without leaving plastic in the ground.
Made from 100% natural jute fibres on a hessian backing, the mats block weed growth while still letting air and rainwater through to the soil. They also hold moisture and insulate the roots, helping plants settle in and build strong root systems. After two to three growing seasons they rot down naturally into the soil, so there’s no clean-up and no waste to dispose of.
They’re quick to fit: lay the mat flat around the plant, overlap the edges for a continuous barrier, and secure with pegs or pins. Widely used in forestry and woodland creation, hedgerow planting, land restoration, rewilding and urban green infrastructure.
