Features and benefits
- Colour: Muted brown colour.
- Lifespan: Non-toxic UV stabilisation ensures that Vigilis-Bio VentAir Tree Shelters maintain mechanical strength for at least 6 years. After this initial 6 year period, the structural integrity of the tube starts to fail. The material will then begin to fracture and fall on to the forest floor over an additional period of 2-3 years. It will start to biodegrade as soon as it is in contact with the leaf litter, soil and/or microbes. It has been designed to compost in soil conditions at 20 degrees Celsius. After biodegradation, all that remains is water, biomass and minerals. No micro-plastics or toxic residues.
- Materials: Made from derivatives of bio-based materials (potatoes, wood & corn). The cellulose structure of these materials is used to create a bio-based polymer.
- Construction: Twin walled design with a laser line to prevent strangulation.Strong yet lightweight construction with optimal strength to weight ratio.Vigilis-Bio VentAir have perforated holes for airflow, ventilation and light transmission.

Vigilis-Bio VentAir are plastic-free tree shelters with perforated holes. They have all the same benefits & features as standard tree shelters, but without the plastic. 100% soil biodegradable (tested to ISO 17556). No need for collection. Non-toxic to the soil (tested to EN 13432). Functional life of 5 years, followed by a further 2-3 years to fully biodegrade. All that remains after biodegradation is water & minerals.
Storage: Store away from direct sunlight (undercover) in dry conditions. Store upright and do not put anything heavy on top.
Nests & Bundles: Recommended purchase in Nests of 5’s. If ordered on an individual basis tree shelters diameter will vary within the selected range.
Fastenings: Pre-fitted with either 1 or 2 releasable/soil biodegradable cable ties. 0.6m & 0.75m = 1 cable tie
