Typical Uses for Barbed Wire
Barbed wire is most commonly used in conjunction with stock fencing to provide additional protection at the top of the fence line. It helps prevent livestock such as cattle or sheep from leaning on or pushing down fencing, reducing long-term damage.

Recommended Installation Guidance
For best results, barbed wire should be installed above stock fencing as a deterrent. We recommend installing two lines of barbed wire:
- One line approximately 50 mm above the top of the fence
- A second line approximately 150 mm above the fence
This spacing provides effective deterrence while maintaining fence integrity.
Barbed wire should be tensioned correctly using appropriate straining tools and fitted in line with fencing safety best practices.
