Grass reinforcement mesh is a cost-effective solution for protecting and reinforcing grassed areas that are exposed to wear, rutting, and mud caused by footfall and vehicle traffic. It is commonly used on lawns, grass driveways, parking areas, verges, and access routes where maintaining a natural grass finish is important.

Grass protection mesh is quick and straightforward to install and can be laid onto existing grass or newly seeded areas without the need for excavation, foundation layers, or permanent groundworks. As the grass grows, the roots and sward intertwine with the mesh structure, creating a stable, reinforced surface that supports both pedestrian and vehicle loads while allowing grass to grow naturally through it.

Once established, the mesh becomes integrated into the turf, helping to maintain a natural appearance while significantly improving durability and resistance to rutting, poaching, and surface damage.

Grass Reinforcement & Turf Reinforcement Mesh Range

Our ground reinforcement range includes Grass Reinforcement Mesh and Turf Reinforcement Mesh, each designed for different levels of traffic and ground pressure.

Grass Reinforcement Mesh

Grass reinforcement mesh is designed for areas that experience regular vehicle use or high footfall.

We offer two grades of grass protection mesh:

10mm Light-Grade Grass Reinforcement Mesh (GR10)

Suitable for:

  • Domestic grass parking spaces

  • Infrequently used overflow car parks

  • High pedestrian footfall areas

  • Seasonal or occasional vehicle access

14mm Heavy-Duty Grass Reinforcement Mesh (GR14)

Designed for:

  • Busier car parks

  • Frequently used access routes

  • Cars, vans, caravans, and similar vehicles

  • Areas requiring maximum durability

All grass reinforcement meshes are SuDS-compliant (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems), allowing water to drain naturally through the surface. In most cases, they do not require planning permission.

Grass Reinforcement Mesh Applications

Grass reinforcement mesh is commonly used to:

  • Protect overflow grass car parks from rutting

  • Reinforce frequently used grass driveways

  • Allow off-road parking on grass verges

  • Improve accessibility for wheelchair routes

  • Expand parking into grassed areas normally closed to vehicles

  • Reduce damage to heavily trafficked grassed areas such as builders’ compounds

  • Temporarily reinforce grass access routes for events

  • Provide year-round grass parking usable in all weather conditions

  • Prevent poaching and rutting in paddocks and feeding areas

Turf Reinforcement Mesh

Turf reinforcement mesh is a lighter-duty solution designed primarily for pedestrian use and lawn protection.

We offer two grades:

TR3 – 3mm Light-Grade Turf Reinforcement Mesh

Best suited for:

  • Lawn reinforcement

  • Small dog runs

  • Garden walkways

  • Wheelchair access routes

TR4 – 4mm Medium-Grade Turf Reinforcement Mesh

Ideal for:

  • Slope and soil stabilisation

  • Larger dog runs

  • Regular pedestrian walkways

Turf reinforcement mesh helps protect grass surfaces from wear while remaining discreet and easy to install.

Turf Reinforcement Mesh Applications

  • Protect grass walkways from wear and rutting

  • Prevent pets from digging up lawns

  • Provide wheelchair-friendly garden access

  • Stabilise sloped or uneven ground

How to Install Grass Reinforcement Mesh

Installing grass reinforcement mesh is a straightforward process and can usually be completed with basic tools.

1. Prepare the Area

Remove weeds, debris, and loose material. Level and lightly compact the ground to provide a stable base.

2. Lay the Mesh

Unroll the mesh over the prepared area, allowing slight overlap at edges if required.

3. Secure the Mesh

Fix the mesh in place using steel fixing pins, spaced evenly along the edges and across the surface.

4. Cut to Shape

Trim the mesh to fit curves, edges, or obstacles using scissors or a suitable cutting tool.

5. Fill and Seed

Brush soil or sand into the mesh apertures if required, then apply grass seed evenly across the surface.

6. Establish and Maintain

Water regularly until grass is established. Once grown through, the surface can be used as normal and maintained like a standard lawn.
