Arris rails, cant rails and backing rails are a vital part of feather edge fencing, adding structure, support and security to the fence panels.  All timber is PEFC and FSC-certified, meaning you can rest assured that you are buying sustainably sourced products.

Suregreen’s arris rails, cant rails and backing rails are ideal for use with feather edge boards.

What is an arris rail?

Arris rails are triangular shaped backing rails used to fix and support feather edging boards in place.  These rails should be fitted horizontally to the back between fence posts before installing the boards.

What is a backing rail?

Backing rails are used to build closeboard panels.  Each 1.8m backing rail can secure 18 feather edge boards together with an inch overlap.  They can also be used along the top of feather edge fencing to secure flat fence capping with screws or nails.

What is a cant rail?

Cant rails have been designed to reduce water being absorbed by the closeboard panel, these cant rails will improve the longevity of the fence.  Cleverly shaped in a bevelled design, cant rails allow the water to run off the timber.

What is flat fence capping?

Fence capping gives a professional finish to feather edge fencing, as well as improving longevity by protecting the panel and stopping water from sitting on top of the boards.
