PP40 Gravel Grids for Drive Installation
A reinforced drive that was a free draining surface and used daily for cars was required when our client required their driveway renovated. Also part of the project specification was that the surface needed to be gravel that not only provided a stable and strong paving, but complied to local SUDS requirements and that still was noisy enough to keep potential burglars away.
The works were carried out by LOVE YOUR GARDEN LANDSCAPES in Redborn, St Albans Hertfordshire. The old driveway to the house had become tired and unsightly. The project not only included the renovation, but required an expanision to the existing drive to allow more cars to park at the front of the house.
Suregreen's PP40 porous plastic gravel paving grids were chosen for the project as they met the latest SuDS requirements, provided the load capacity to guarantee a stable surface and being porous; therefore did not contribute to additional urban flooding from surface water run-off. Using the plastic paving grids with an angular gravel fill ensured that the top surface still produced a "crunch" sound that was planned to deter potential burglars (The clients property and others in the neighbourhood have previously been subject to burglaries). The gravel within the plastic pavers cells was kept in place / retained due to the unique design of the cells. This prevented excessive loss of gravel onto the highway / pavement.
