We have three types of weed matting products in this section - weed control fabrics, geotextiles and weed matting.

Our weed control fabric is a permeable, non-woven geotextile used to suppress and control weed growth in landscaping and gardening applications. It allows water and nutrients to pass through as it is permeable, but successfully blocks weeds from growing. This weed control landscape fabric is often used under mulch, garden gravel paths and driveways, decorative layers such as bark chippings, stone chippings, pebbles, gravel and more. It's simply fixed to the ground using ground pegs, such as our rounded mushroom head pegs.

Geotextiles are very similar, except the fabric is thicker and heavier. This makes it great for civil engineering or construction, as part of a landscaping project, and for more domestic applications.

We have two types of weed matting -polythene mats and woven polypropylene mats. These are commonly used for trees as it has an inbuilt split line so that you can fit it around the base of the tree. Polythene mats are the most economical mats that we offer and they provide good protection from weeds for a minimum of 2 years. These mats block the weeds growing from below, but as they are not water permeable they prevent water and nutrients from passing into the soil. Woven polypropylene mats offer the same amount of protection against weeds as the standard mats, but with the added benefit of allowing water and nutrients to pass through.
